I also hated this Chris when RE8 came out, because he was my mf opp. Fuck you for killing my wife and kidnapping my baby and kicking me in the nuts without telling me about anything Chris!!!!
He’s grown on me a lot this year as I played through the series in order, now I can see his greater character arc. From 80’s action hero to old PTSD Rambo era. Rambo don’t wanna fight no more, man. But killing’s all he knows how to do now. He even has a dead wife or two (Wesker and Piers) as all man pained Punisher type heroes should have. He’s been successfully recrOOted and grOOmed by the military pharmaceutical bioweapon complex of the Resident Evil universe :(
Not to mention, 48 is the same age Wesker was in RE5 when he died. Chris is dresses in all-black with a heavy coat now, huh? I LOVE THEMES AND PARALLELS AND CONNECTING RELATIONSHIPS AND CHARACTERS AGING AND CHANGING THAT MAKE SENSE WHEN YOU PUT THEM TOGETHER!! I can never tell if Capcom intends for these themes to be intentional (see: my A/W Ada = Wesker conspiracy), because the games are intentionally corny “B-movie” games, right? If I think it’s fucken awesome that they show Chris being mental ill & brain damaged at the same key ages as Wesker, then some dev will come out and say “lol no ur dumb i just thought it was cool” like the Death Note mangaka to people asking if the Christian foot-washing, crucifixion, apple symbolism is intentional... |  |
